Adapting Tsuri Star for Facebook and LINE Chat required walking a careful line — keeping the soul of the classic Japanese fishing game intact while crafting gameplay experiences entertaining enough to hook a social platform audience.

User Game Flow & Asset Creation

For players picking up Fishing Star for the first time, the FTUE had to make everything feel intuitive and inviting — guiding them through both the core gameplay and the new social features in a way that felt seamless rather than instructional.

Adopting a highly agile approach, I detailed every stage of different game features and events in a high-fidelity format. This method of flow creation aids in visualizing the producer's designs, steering developers in constructing the feature or event, and simultaneously generating the final assets for use.

We also prototyped a mascot-driven FTUE, putting Fishing Star's character front and center to walk new players through the experience — a warmer, more personality-forward take on onboarding.

  1. Special In-Game Events

As my work on the game progressed, we introduced more special events to boost player engagement and retention. With these new features, I had the opportunity to delve into creating more vibrant and attention-grabbing designs.

  1. Social & Promotional Content

I also found creative ways to stretch Fishing Star's fish art assets further, adapting them into chatbots and social media promotional materials that kept the game's charm reeling players in outside the game.
